A Ruston man was arrested on his second DWI charge last week after a Louisiana state trooper stopper him for failure to wear a seat belt.
Mauricio Robles Tovar, 26, was stopped at about 10:30 a.m. on April 21 while traveling on U. S. 80 in Ruston. When the trooper encountered Tovar, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was detected. According to the trooper’s report, Tovar admitted drinking before driving.

Tovar allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. A breath test showed Tovar’s blood alcohol content to be .115g%. The Louisiana level for presumed intoxication is .08g%.
It was determined no driver’s license had been issued for Tovar. He was booked for second offense DWI, no driver’s license and no seat belt.
