The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested an Arcadia woman last week after she was stopped for speeding and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
Tallaneisha Lejoyce Fields, 40, was stopped for speeding 67 in a 55 mph zone on U.S. Highway 80 near Hyatt Road on April 29.
A deputy noted in his report that Fields spoke very slowly and appeared to be in a trance-like state. Field sobriety tests were administered and Fields performed poorly.
A warrant was located for Fields for failure to appear in Ruston City Court on a driving under suspension charge. A records check also showed that her driver’s license was currently under suspension.
Fields was placed under arrest for DWI and the warrant. A search located Xanax and tramadol tablets, both Schedule IV controlled substances.
A breath test was administered at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, which showed no blood alcohol content.
Suspecting DWI on drugs, Fields was directed to submit to another chemical test by providing a blood or urine sample. She refused and was booked for first offense DWI, speeding, driving under suspension, improper lane usage, possession of Schedule IV controlled substances and the City Court warrant.
