Drugs found on traffic stop

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department arrested a Ruston man after he was stopped for speeding and a variety of drugs were found in his vehicle.

Erolos M. Jackson, 59, was stopped on U.S. 80 near Gahagan Road after he was clocked on radar traveling at 65 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on June 24.

When the deputy made contact with Jackson, the strong odor of green marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

A subsequent search located a lunch pail in the front center console containing a large bag of marijuana, two smaller bags of marijuana, a pill bottle containing MDMA (ecstasy), a pill bottle containing Viagra, a box of plastic sandwich bags, and digital scales.

About 104 grams of marijuana were recovered along with 51 MDMA tablets and 46 units of Viagra. Viagra is a legend drug requiring a prescription.

Jackson said the bag belonged to him as well as everything inside it. He said he did not know the identity of the ecstasy polls, stating a friend had given them to him for leg pain. The Viagra was in a bottle labeled for another prescription medication.

Jackson was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
