Numerous drugs found on traffic stop

A man and woman from Dubach were arrested last week after their vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and a variety of drugs were found inside.

Scott Perry Griffin, 49, and Natasha D. Stephenson-Brown, 46, were arrested on July 2 after a traffic stop by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy observed Griffin commit improper lane usage while driving a pickup truck on La. Highway 151. The truck also had an expired inspection sticker. The deputy knew from previous information that Griffin was wanted on three warrants for failure to appear in Third District Court and that he was also on probation.

The deputy saw an empty pistol holster and a pill bottle with the label ripped off containing a white powder.

When Griffin was arrested, a large amount of cash in small denominations was found. The deputy knew from through training and experience that possession of cash in those denominations was consistent with the distribution of narcotics.

A slight odor of marijuana was smelled coming from the vehicle. During a search, the items seized included the pill bottle containing suspected methamphetamine, a legend drug identified as Tadalafil, and a Bible case in the floorboard where Griffin had been seated. The case contained a card bearing Griffin‘s name, multiple scales, multiple plastic baggies containing a total of approximately half a pound of methamphetamine, a bag containing approximately 10 units of suspected ecstasy, a glass jar containing an unknown liquid, and one baggie of suspected marijuana.

In the center console of the truck, a deputy is located numerous plastic bags consistent with the distribution of narcotics as well as a over-the-counter heartburn medication bottle which contained a different pill identified as pantoprazole, also a legend drug.

Stephenson-Brown’s purse contained an eyeglass case containing suspected methamphetamine, and two pills identified as amphetamine/dextroamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Stephenson-Brown was booked for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine/dextroamphetamine.

Griffin was booked for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy (MDMA) with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a legend drug, expired inspection sticker, improper lane usage, and the three failure to appear warrants.
