Remembering Larry James Wallace

Graveside services for Larry James Wallace, age 77 of Choudrant, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at New Hope Cemetery with Bro. Michail Baldwin officiating, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Born on February 6, 1948, to Grady and Margaret Wallace, Larry lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. Larry passed on July 5, 2025 in Ruston, LA surrounded by loved ones.

At the young age of 15, Larry began working at a local service station to help support his family. Despite his early responsibilities, he remained committed to his education and proudly graduated at age 20. His sense of duty continued as he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 1, 1976, after years of honorable and courageous service. Larry spent 33 years working as a truck driver for Davison Transport in Ruston, LA, where he was known for his reliability, work ethic, and friendly spirit.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brother-in-law, Orville Schroeder.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Sandra Wallace; sister, Doris Schroeder of Choudrant; and his stepchildren: Michael Westerfield, Charlie Westerfield, and Priscilla (Tom) Davenport of Sheridan, AR. He was a cherished grandfather to Corey Davenport (Laurel) of Little Rock, AR; Alex Davenport (Kylie) of Sheridan, AR; Amber Aldridge of West Monroe, LA; and Danielle Westerfield of West Monroe, LA. Larry’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: William Davenport, Monroe Davenport, Ryker Girod, Truett Hicks, and Lee Davenport.

Larry will be remembered for his unwavering strength, kind heart, and quiet devotion to those he loved. His life was a testament to perseverance, service, and the deep bonds of family.
