After a successful exhibit in connection with June’s Louisiana Peach Festival, the Lincoln Parish Museum is gearing up for its next exhibit and is requesting the public’s help.
The upcoming exhibit, “Music, Musicians, and Memories at the Museum” is scheduled to run from July 22 to August 15. The museum is asking for the public to loan items that showcase the various aspects of music that have been important in Lincoln Parish.
Museum director Rick Godley said the museum will accept a variety of memorabilia, including photographs, posters, musical instruments, ticket stubs from concerts, costumes, or any other item connected to music or musicians of Lincoln Parish.
A reception will be held at the museum on July 22 at 5:30 p.m. to officially launch the exhibit. The exhibit will then remain on display through August 15.
Godley said, “We want to feature things from across the spectrum. From the early days to what’s happening now, music has always been something that’s been part of our memories.”
The exhibit is intended to pay homage to local musicians as well as those who came to Lincoln Parish to perform.
“Chords, connection, and community, that’s what we are celebrating when we look at how music has impacted us in Lincoln Parish,” Godley said.
Anyone with items to loan to the exhibit can contact Godley at 318–243–4681. More information can also be found on the Lincoln Parish Museum‘s Facebook page.
