Man charged with entering apartment

A local man was arrested last week after he allegedly entered a downtown Ruston apartment without permission.

Jamarious Williams, 35, of Ruston, was arrested for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling July 17 after officers responded to an apartment on East Park Avenue.

Witnesses told responding officers an unknown man attempted to take dogs from the apartment, but had fled the scene. After a brief search of the area, officers saw Williams, who matched the suspect description given by witnesses, walking on Park Avenue.

When asked what he was doing in the area, Williams said he had not done anything. When asked if he had walked into the apartment, Williams replied he had walked in accidentally. Williams was identified by witnesses as the person who had entered the apartment. Officers learned this was not the first time Williams had entered the apartment without permission and then stated it was an accident.

Williams was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
