Lincoln Preparatory School announced the appointment of Courtney Smith as its new Chief Academic Officer and Deputy Director, marking an exciting chapter in the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence, equity, and student success.
Dr. Crystal Washington, Lincoln Prep Acting Executive Director, expressed her enthusiasm about Smith’s addition to the leadership team:
“I am thrilled to welcome Mrs. Smith to Lincoln Prep. Her experience, passion, and proven leadership will be an asset as we continue to strengthen our instructional programs and improve outcomes for all students,” said Washington.
Smith brings more than 17 years of experience in education, beginning her career as a high school mathematics teacher. Known for her instructional skill and ability to build strong relationships, Smith quickly rose to leadership roles, serving as Assistant Principal, Principal, and most recently as a Senior Specialist with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET). In each capacity, she has championed rigorous instruction, teacher development, and measurable academic growth.

Smith is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where she earned both her bachelor’s degree and master’s in educational leadership. She also holds a Master of Science in Law from Champlain College, a rare combination that uniquely equips her to align classroom practice with effective education policy.
“I believe every child deserves a school experience that changes the trajectory of their life,” Smith said. “My goal is to ensure every teacher has the tools, support, and leadership they need to make that possible.”
Washington said she is confident that Smith’s visionary leadership will build on the school’s progress and help create a thriving academic culture where every student can succeed.
