
Two people were arrested after a disturbance Saturday evening that drew a crowd to a Grambling apartment complex.
Emorris Brantley, 22, and Jessie L. Jackson, 36, both of Grambling, were arrested following the investigation of a domestic violence incident.
Grambling Police said officers responded to an apartment complex on B.T. Woodard Circle at about 5 p.m. on August 1. A woman told officers she and Brantley had gotten into a verbal altercation after Brantley made an accusation against her. The woman said she requested Brantley leave her apartment, but he became increasingly aggressive and attempted to confront her physically.
According to the GPD report, the woman said Brantley punched his relative, who was present during the confrontation. The relative told officers Brantley had hit her punched her with a closed fist. The relative said several times she did not want to see him go to jail.
Officers attempted to talk to Brantley at an apartment, but he refused to go out outside, yelling at police from inside the screen door. He was told he was under arrest for hitting his relative. He continued to ignore commands to come out of the apartment.
GPD officers entered, deployed a Taser on Brantley, and took him into custody.
Jackson was present at the scene and was asked to leave because disruptive behavior while officers were managing the situation with Brantley.
About 20 minutes later, police received another call reporting women fighting in the parking lot at the same complex. A witness told police the altercation involved Jackson and an unidentified woman.
Jackson was taken into custody and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for remaining on premises after being forbidden and disturbing the peace.
Brantley was booked for domestic abuse and resisting an officer.
