Man caught after fleeing police

Ruston Police arrested a local man Friday afternoon after he allegedly fled officers on a motorized bicycle, committing numerous traffic violations.

Terrell Tyler, 42, of Ruston, was arrested after police attempted to stop him, but instead he attempted to elude them.

At about 1 p.m., an officer spotted Tyler on the motorized bicycle on South Farmerville Street. According to an officer’s report, Tyler was driving between lanes of traffic before turning on East Colorado Avenue, where he committed an improper lane usage violation.

When an officer activated his emergency lights, Tyler looked back and saw the patrol car and continue driving. When Tyler reached a barricaded work zone, he drove the bike through the barricades attempting to lose the officer. While fleeing police, Tyler allegedly failed to stop at several stop signs and drove through backyards attempting to escape.

When Tyler attempted to ride through a grassy area, he was apprehended. A record check showed that his driver’s license was under suspension.

He was booked for driving under suspension, aggravated flight from an officer, disobeying barricades, and improper lane usage.
