Man charged with second DWI in Ruston

A Quitman was arrested in downtown Ruston for his second DWI last week.

Tristan L. Pittman, 28, was arrested August 6 by Louisiana State Police after a trooper saw a Toyota pickup fail to stop at a traffic light.

Pittman was stopped at the intersection of Mississippi Avenue and Monroe Street and told the reason of stop. The trooper reported smelling the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Pittman’s breath. Pittman admitted he had been drinking at a downtown Ruston establishment.

Pittman performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he refused to take a breath test.

A search warrant was obtained to draw blood for analysis.

Pittman was booked for second offense DWI and running a traffic light.
