Three Union Parish men has been arrested as part of a lengthy investigation of a sexual assault case involving multiple victims.
In 2023, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior, some involving juvenile victims. Detectives from the UPSO Criminal Investigations Division conducted extensive interviews and collected evidence that identified three suspects and connected them to numerous sexual offenses that occurred at multiple residences in Spearsville.

During the investigation, detectives learned that one of the suspects, John A Thompson, Jr, 57, of Spearsville, pointed a firearm at the victims and threatened to kill their family if they disclosed the abuse. The victims in this case were under the age of 15 at the time these crimes occurred.
Last week, detectives sought warrants for the arrest of three adult suspects. A Third District Court judge signed the warrants, and all three suspects from Spearsville have been arrested as named below:
John A Thompson Jr., 57, five counts first degree rape, oral sexual battery, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and sexual battery. His bail was set at $1,950,000.
Scottie Lynn Peavy, 48, first degree rape. Bail set at $1,000,000.
Larry Lee Splane, 67, five counts of sexual battery. Splane’s bail was set at $500,000.
