Are you looking for a new 4-wheeler this year?  Ruston Rotary may have just what you are looking for just $10, and it comes with 12’ load and go trailer.  The club has started selling tickets to win a 2025 Can-Am 850 4-Wheeler with a Load and Go 12-foot trailer valued at $17,500.

Proceeds from the raffle will help pay for community projects held by the Ruston Rotary Club annually.  “Ruston Rotary Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year is our annual raffle and this year, we’re thrilled to be raffling off a 4-wheeler, generously donated by Karl Malone Toyota.

Tickets are $10, and every dollar goes to supporting our important service projects right here in our community. The raffle is a fun way to give back, and we are grateful for the continued support of our friends and neighbors,” said Kris Barney, President of the Ruston Rotary Club.

The fundraiser is a coordinated project of Karl Malone Power Sports, Karl Malone Toyota, and the Ruston Rotary Club to give back to the community.  The 2025 Outlander 850 Can-Am features a front winch, intelligent engine braking, visco-lok auto-locking front differential, 26 in. tires with 12 in. steel wheels, 7.6 in. wide digital display, a full skid plate, front dropdown storage and rear removable storage plus storage for your phone.

“Karl Malone Toyota and Ruston Rotary are working together to raise funds and give back to the community,” said Rusty Wilfong, service manager at Karl Malone Toyota and Rotarian. “This is a great hunting vehicle which can give someone the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and help the community with just the purchase of a $10 ticket.”

Wilfong urged everyone to buy as many tickets as you want for the chance to win the Can-Am 850 with the 12’ load and go trailer.

Everyone who buys a $10 ticket becomes a partner in this effort and other service projects Ruston Rotary undertakes. One of these is the Backpack Food Program that started under the direction of the late Rotarian Allen Tuten in Ruston 17 years ago. Bags of food are placed in a child’s backpack to be consumed over a weekend. Students needing this nutritional help are selected by their teachers. The program is now under the direction of the United Way in coordination with Super 1 Foods.

Some of the community-related projects include Coats for Kids distributed in coordination with the Children’s Shoppe of Ruston, which gives out over 275 coats to needy students at local Lincoln Parish elementary schools. This Coats for Kids is chaired by Carolyn Banks.

Ruston Rotary will hand out over 350 dictionaries to local 3rd graders this year. Roy Hennigan, chair of the dictionary project said, “the joy and smile on the faces of the children that receive their very own dictionary makes this project worthwhile.”

The club provides four $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors heading off to college in the fall and will this year add one additional $2,000 scholarship for a total of $10,000 to be given to college-bound students.  New this year will also be the addition of a $2,000 Scholarship to Delta Community College for a student learning a trade.

The club provides over 200 Christmas gift bags for two nursing homes in Ruston, bringing joy to elderly residents that might not see family or receive anything for Christmas.  This will include additional games, puzzles, coloring books, word search books for each nursing home.

The Ruston Rotary club assist DART with their October fundraiser at the Super 1 parking lot by cooking jambalaya for lunch during the annual DART fundraiser held inside Super 1.

MedCamp is a great organization helping children with disabilities and members of the club dress up in Wizard of Oz Halloween costumes handing out candy to the over 1,500 kids that show up at the annual Halloween MedCamp’s Fall Bash held at Camp Alabama north of Choudrant.

Ruston Rotary will again participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) providing scholarships for three high schools from Lincoln Parish high schools to attend the Thursday through Sunday camp at the Outdoor Wilderness Learning Center (OWL) in Dubach.

Each month during the school year Gregg Phillips and Chris Barr leads the club in hosting high school seniors from Ruston High, Choudrant High, Lincoln Preparatory School, Simsboro High and Cedar Creek School with each student highlighting their high school careers and their future college plans.

Tickets for the top of the line Can-Am 850 and the Load and Go trailer can be purchased from any Rotary member, as well as various locations where the club will display the 4-wheeler and trailer around the city.
Tickets can also be purchased at the service department of Karl Malone Toyota, or by calling Wilfong at 318-265-0985.

The drawing will be held Oct. 29 at the club’s regular noon meeting.
