A Ruston woman was taken into custody by state police after she was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt and refused to provide her name and then resisted arrest violently.
Tamera N. Wyatt, 29, was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center Aug. 13 for battery of a police officer and resisting an officer, among other charges.
Wyatt was seen operating a Nissan Sentra on Trenton Street without wearing a seatbelt. A state trooper stopped her and advised of the violation observed and asked for her identification. She stated she had none. Despite repeated requests, she refused to provide a name and date of birth.

Without information to identify her and write a citation, the trooper placed her under arrest. While in handcuffs, Wyatt resisted by screaming, pulling away from the trooper, throwing herself on the ground, and failing to follow commands.
As the trooper attempted to escort her to the patrol vehicle, she reached back and forcefully grabbed the trooper’s groin area. When Ruston Police arrived as back up, she identified herself. A record check showed her driver’s license had been suspended.
Wyatt was booked for no seatbelt, driving under suspension, resisting in officer, and battery of a police officer.
