A Ruston man was arrested on Interstate 20 last week after a Lincoln Paris deputy stopped him for a traffic violation and saw suspected marijuana in the car.
D’Marrion M. Malcolm, 25, was stopped at about 12:30 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 15 after the deputy saw him slow drastically in a lane of travel. A check of the license plate on the Nissan Altima showed it was registered to a Mercedes-Benz.
The vehicle was stopped, and Malcolm was found to be the sole occupant. He said he did not have his driver’s license with him.
As Malcolm stepped out of the car, the deputy saw a clear plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana on the driver’s floorboard. Malcolm was taken into custody and a records check showed he was wanted on a warrant from Third District Court for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
A search of the vehicle located a second bag of marijuana and a pack of rolling papers in the center console.
Malcolm was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for switched license plate, driving under suspension, no vehicle registration, third offense possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the arrest warrant.
