A Ruston man escaped from a work release program in East Feliciana Parish, according to the local sheriff.
Sheriff Jeff Travis said, “Unfortunately, one of our work releases inmates has fled custody. Inmate Christopher Truemaine Samuel left his assigned work detail on foot at approximately 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
Samuel fled from Deltak Manufacturing, located on John Lanier Road, Walker, LA. He is described as a black male, five feet six inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with short hair. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt with a grey T-shirt underneath, blue jeans and a black skull cap.

Samuel is from Ruston and was convicted in Lincoln Parish of aggravated battery. His release date was scheduled for September 6, 2028. A warrant for simple escape is being secured for his arrest.
In a statement, Sheriff Travis said that Work Release is a program granted to inmates who have shown a desire to reenter society as a productive member after incarnation. Participation in the program is an earned privilege and is a position of trust. It is truly unfortunate for all concerned when an individual granted that privilege violates the trust placed in him the Sheriff said.
