A pair of chicken specialty restaurants — one based out of Tennessee and one out of Texas — will be calling Ruston home soon.

Party Fowl specializes in Nashville hot chicken and will be moving into the old Dawghouse Sports Grill building at 102 North Homer Street.

There are already locations in Nashville and Donelson, Tennessee, while two more will be opening soon (Ruston & East Nashville, Tennessee) according to the chain’s website (partyfowl.com).

According to the website (PartyFowl.com), “Party Fowl serves up hot chicken, boozy slushies, local brews, and southern hospitality in a setting that’s made for letting loose …

“Our menu puts a bold spin on the classics, with heat levels ranging from southern-friendly to seriously unhinged (looking at you, Poultrygeist). Whether you’re here for brunch, the big game, or just a round with friends, you’ll find wall-to-wall TVs, full service, and a vibe that’s never boring.”

A banner sign already hangs on both the north and west sides of the old Dawghouse building and according to Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker, the establishment “is hoping to open fairly soon.”

“We are excited that we have (Party Fowl) going into a really strategic location as far as it’s proximity to the University and downtown Ruston,” said Walker. “It gives our residents and all the visitors that come to our city every year more dining options. This restaurant is big enough to sit large groups, like teams, so we are very excited.”

In addition to Party Fowl, another chicken establishment will be coming to Ruston in Layne’s Chicken Fingers out of Texas.

According to the website (Layneschickenfingers.com), “Our original location in College Station is still open, and our goal is to bring the same small-town charm, friendly service and iconic chicken fingers & secret sauce to the rest of the world…and beyond. Now with more Astro Chicken!”

According to Walker, the franchise will be building on the location of the old hotel adjacent to the I-20 east ramp across from QuickTrip on the South Service Road.

“We have already gotten the plans and had meetings with them so I’m assuming they will be starting (to build) pretty quickly,” said Walker.

There are approximately 30 locations for Layne’s Chicken Fingers in the United States with the closest locations to Ruston being Nacogdoches, Texas, and Benton, Arkansas.
