A Baton Rouge man was arrested in Ruston after a patrol officer saw him allegedly attempt the force open the entrance doors to a closed convenience store.
Davius Ja’vontay Pooler, 23, was charged with attempted simple burglary and resisting an officer at about 1:50 a.m. Sept. 10.
The officer saw Pooler walk up to the entrance doors to the store and pull strongly twice in attempt to force them open. The officer’s report noted the store was clearly closed with all interior and exterior lights off.

When Pooler saw the officer, he turned and walked quickly away. He was stopped and told the officer he was trying to get something to eat. Pooler refused to give more than a nickname to identify himself.
When Pooler made a motion as if to turn and run away, the officer unholstered a TASER and instructed him to replace his hands on the patrol car. He was taken into custody and his ID and the identification of another man were found in his pocket.
Cooler was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
