Jane Pipes of Ruston passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Graveside services will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Douglas Cemetery. Visitation will follow at Douglas Church from 11am-12pm. Officiating the Graveside Service will be Reverend Jeremy Jones under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
Mrs. Pipes was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, on December 22, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George Russell Pipes of Ruston; her parents, James Lee and Maude Marie Smart of Ruston; her brother, Brian Lee “Butch” Smart of Highlands, North Carolina; her sister, Helen Smart Neal of San Antonio, Texas; and her father and mother-in-law, George Alvin and Helen Burton Pipes of Dubberly.
She is survived by her sons, James Pipes (Monica) of Ruston and Jeff Pipes (Ann) of Dubach; daughter, Janis Smith (Adam) of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Shawn Pipes (Candace) of Ruston and Amanda Pipes of Volga, South Dakota; Taylor Adelsperger (Ross) of Hanover, Maryland and Katelyn Hinton (Caleb) of West Monroe; Emma Smith (fiancé, Andrew) of Odessa, Texas and Jake Smith of Arlington, Texas; and her five great grandchildren, Andrew Pipes, Palmer Hinton, Adaline Baker, Sam Adelsperger, and Gavin Pipes; also nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Mrs. Pipes was a member of Douglas Church, where she was active for many years. For most of her life, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sharing recipes, and baking for others. For those who knew her well, knew that Mrs. Pipes loved baking teacakes, listening to Elvis Presley, and watching the Texas Rangers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
