Shreveport man charged with marijuana in Ruston

A Shreveport man was arrested in Ruston last week after an officer found a large amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia in his vehicle.

Taylin Dotson, 18, was arrested Sept. 27 after he was stopped for a traffic violation in downtown Ruston by city police officer.

During the 2 a.m. traffic stop, the officer detected a burning smell and the odor of marijuana. Dotson admitted there was marijuana in his vehicle. An officer found a large bag of marijuana in a backpack located behind the driver’s seat. The bag also contained a digital scale and a box of small plastic baggies.

Law enforcement officers deem such paraphernalia along with a large quantity of marijuana indicative of an intent to sell or distribute.

Dotson was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
