Worker charged with theft from homeowner

A Bernice man was arrested after he allegedly stole items from a residence where he was performing electrical work.

Monte Cobb, 53, was arrested for misdemeanor theft after a Weir Road homeowner said he stole several items.

The homeowner said he was missing a pump up sprayer, two Milwaukee tool batteries, and a bottle of fly spray. The owner said he checked his cameras and saw Cobb stealing the sprayer.

A Lincoln Parish deputy phoned Cobb and asked him about the missing items. The deputy reported Cobb admitted taking the sprayer and the fly spray, but said he did not take the batteries.

Cobb took the sprayer and fly spray to the sheriff’s office where he was interviewed. Cobb was adamant he did not take the batteries, stating he had a Milwaukee drill, but that he had his own batteries and did not need the victim’s. Cobb said the homeowner was supposed to pay him $500 for the job but it only paid him $350.

Cobb was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for misdemeanor theft.
