Letter to the Editor: Plain Dealing AD/coach praises Cedar Creek

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Plain Dealing High School, I wanted to take a minute to thank the Cedar Creek Football program, head coach Jacob Angevine, and the football parents for the hospitality shown to our student-athletes and coaches last Friday night at Cougar Stadium.

When our players and coaches stepped onto the bus after the game, they were given a chicken sandwich, fruit cup, bag of chips, and Gatorade.

I’ve been coaching for 19 years. In all of those years, not once has a football program fed the visiting team after a game. It was an act of kindness which was greatly appreciated by players and coaches alike.

As the head coach, it took something off of my plate and with it being Fall Break there would have been a couple of extra hoops for me to jump through to get our boys fed.

But it wasn’t just the meal after the game.

From the moment we pulled into the parking lot and were directed where to go until the complimentary words from the chain gang when the game was over, everything about our experience playing at Cedar Creek last Friday night was first class.

We wish the Cougars all the best for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Sincerely,
Jerry Byrd
AD/Head Football Coach
