Wanted woman arrested for shoplifting

A Choudrant woman allegedly caught shoplifting in Ruston has been charged with warrants for failure to appear in court on several felony charges.

Jessica Kennedy, 33, was stopped by an asset protection employee at the Walmart Supercenter on the North Service Road in Ruston about 10 p.m. on October 11.

Kennedy told a Ruston Police officer that she had taken items for a birthday party, paying for some but not all the items.

A warrant check found the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted Kennedy for failing to appear in Third District Court on two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and a charge of negligent injuring.

Those charges stem from an April investigation where Kennedy was arrested after her dogs allegedly attacked a neighbor.

Kennedy was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft by shoplifting and the three warrants. Bail was set at $100,000.
