Man charged with stealing phone at bar

A Monroe man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly stole a cell phone at a Grambling bar.

A woman reported to Grambling Police that a man had stolen her cell phone. The woman said while she was inside the bar, she gave her iPhone to a friend to hold while she went to meet some friends who were hosting the party. When she returned to retrieve the phone, her friend noticed it was missing from the table.

The woman called her phone and a man answered and said, “This is Grant Cobb and you are not getting the damn phone back.”

The woman said she did not know Cobb. She then tracked her phone using her Apple Watch that showed the cell phone was in the 100 block of Harper Bottom Road.

GPD and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office went to the Harper Bottom Road area and found a 2014 Chevrolet pick up with Cobb asleep and drunk inside. The missing cell phone was found in a search of the truck.

Regan Grant Cobb, 23, said he did not know he had a phone in his truck and did not know the victim. He said he was drunk and was sleeping it off.

Cobb was arrested for a theft by Grambling Police and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
