Shoplifter resists Lincoln Parish deputies

A Ruston woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly shoplifted at a convenience store and then exhibited bizarre behavior when Lincoln Parish deputies arrived.

Mary Carolyn Colvin Allgood, 60, was arrested Nov. 30 for theft by shoplifting and resisting an officer.

Deputies responded to a convenience store on La. Highway 33 just outside Ruston at about 11:00 a.m. to find a woman spinning in place next to a parked car. The woman identified herself as Allgood, but when deputies tried to speak to her, she was incoherent. A deputy noted in a report that Allgood was displaying bizarre behavior.

When the deputy attempted to detain Allgood, she pulled away and ran around the vehicle to escape. Another deputy incapacitated her with a Taser.

Store clerks reported Allgood stole merchandise from the store. It was located in the car and returned to the store. Allogod was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
