RUSTON, La. – Another state title run.
Another year of the all-Lincoln Parish Journal team being inundated with Ruston Bearcats.
In fact, it was all Bearcats in the superlative awards this year on the LPJ All-Parish Team as junior quarterback Sam Hartwell took home offensive MVP, senior Ra’Keem Potts earned defensive MVP and head coach Jerrod Baugh took Coach of the Year honors after leading Ruston its fourth trip to the Superdome in as many seasons.
Baugh earned his fourth straight Coach of the Year award after guiding Ruston High to an 11-3 record, the District 2-5A title, the No. 1 seed in the NonSelect School playoffs and an appearance in the program’s fourth straight title game.
Hartwell, who took over the reins of the Bearcat offense this year, earned the offensive award after passing for 1,990 yards and 22 scores while running for an additional 696 yards and 14 more touchdowns.
Potts anchored the Ruston defense in 2025, totaling 65 tackles from his defensive tackle position. He added 13.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, and one forced fumble on the year.
Ruston High totaled 17 representatives on the All-LPJ team while Cedar Creek had six honorees and Lincoln Prep tallied five.
The Lincoln Parish Journal salutes all three programs and congratulates these young men for their postseason awards and honors.
