RUSTON, La. — Put another one in the win column.

The Ruston High Lady Bearcat (9-1) kicked off the New Year with a 10-0 win Saturday over Beau Chêne (3-6-1) out of St. Landry Parish with district games beginning this week.

“We are in really good form; it’s nice to be at this point in the season where everything is falling into place as the district matches begin this week,” Ruston High Head Coach Jacquelyn Bean said. “The girls are seeing all the fruits of their labor since the summer. They understand that the more difficult part of their season is ahead of them, and all the little things that come with it such as the January weather and tougher opponents.

“They kick-off every match with high expectations for themselves. It’s been fun to watch their creativity in the midfield, and with 13 different players providing assists, this means we have players coming off the bench scoring and assisting. It’s allowed us to rotate our Starting 11 from game to game and still provide opportunities to find goals and assists. It’s an incredible storm we bring to every match.”

Ruston opens District 2-II play on Thursday, Jan. 8, at home against West Ouachita.

“We are really looking forward to our district games coming up,” Bean said. “We’d love for the Ruston community to come out and support us.”
