A fully automatic machine gun was recovered by Union Parish deputies following a traffic stop on New Year’s Eve.
Tyon Tyrell Wallace, 22, and Dorien Ahmaad Henderson, 21, both of Farmerville, were arrested after a December 31 traffic stop and the recovery of firearms.
According to a press release, at about 9:50 p.m., deputies with the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop within the city limits of Farmerville. The driver initially failed to stop and continued a short distance into an apartment complex before coming to a stop.
Two passengers then exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the complex. The driver was secured by deputies. Additional deputies and officers from the Farmerville Police Department responded to search for the fleeing individuals. One of the passengers was later located and detained. The other individual was not identified at the time of the incident.
During the search of the area, deputies recovered two firearms in a wooded area near the apartment complex. A search of the vehicle also resulted in the discovery of multiple firearms inside the passenger compartment, including a handgun equipped with a drum magazine and a device that allowed the firearm to function as a fully automatic machine gun. Additional items consistent with attempts to conceal identity were located inside the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed both identified men were prohibited from possessing firearms due to existing court orders or prior felony convictions. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Union Parish Detention Center.
Wallace was charged with violation of protective order, possession of machine gun, and flight from an officer.
Henderson was booked for violation of protective order, resisting an officer, possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
