Spearsville teen arrested for deadly shooting in Farmerville

On Friday, January 9, 2026, Union Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators responded to assist with a reported battery incident inside the city limits of Farmerville on Maple Street.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male subject inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Life saving measures were immediately started by responding units, and Pafford EMS transported the subject to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Kayane Deundrea Smith, 18, of Farmerville.

During the investigation, a female subject at the scene admitted to shooting the victim, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Cynia Monet Gray, 18, of Spearsville, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. Gray was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center. Her bond was set by a Third Judicial District judge at $1,000,000.
