Louisiana State Police arrested a motorist in Ruston last week after stopping him for failure to wear a seat belt and discovering he was wanted on several warrants.
A state trooper stopped Jermaine Girod, 37, of Bastrop, Jan. 10 for no seat belt. During the interaction, Girod said he had forgotten to put on his seat belt and that he was wanted on several warrants from Ruston City Court.
A check confirmed six arrest warrants for Girod for failure to appear in court on three driving under suspension charges, no liability insurance, expired license plate, and speeding.
Girod was arrested and then admitted he had some drug paraphernalia inside his underwear. The evidence was retrieved and Girod was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for driving under suspension, no seat belt, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the six warrants.
