Stolen truck stopped in Ruston

A West Monroe man was arrested in Ruston last week after he was spotted driving a vehicle reported stolen in Richland Parish.

Christian D. Easterling, 32, was arrested Jan. 9 after state police were notified the vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 20 near Ruston. Dispatch confirmed the 2007 GMC truck was stolen through Richland Parish.

A Louisiana state trooper spotted the vehicle exiting I-20 in Ruston and located it at the QuikTrip convenience store parking lot. When questioned, Easterling said he bought the truck from the registered owner and was paying weekly on it. He said he has missed two payments, but the owner of the vehicle had never reached out to him asking about the money for the truck.

Easterling was stopped and taken into custody.

Easterling was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for illegal possession of stolen things.
