Grocery store shoplifter takes liquor not food

Ruston Police arrested a local man after he allegedly shoplifted a $40 bottle of liquor and then fled the store when he was confronted.

Jimmy Ray Turner, 43, of Ruston, was arrested Jan. 17 at a nearby restaurant after he attempted to run upon seeing police.

Store management told RPD that Turner concealed the liquor inside his jacket and went into a restroom. When the bottle was recovered, the packaging with a security device had been removed in the restroom.

Turner was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft by shoplifting and resisting an officer by attempting to run from officers.
