
A Ruston man involved in a crash on Interstate 20 in Bienville Parish was charged with DWI and possession of marijuana and other charges last week.
Brandon Lamar Brooks, 48, was arrested Jan. 29 by Louisiana State Police after he was allegedly involved in a one-vehicle crash on I-20 at milepost 64.
A trooper on the scene of saw Brooks displaying obvious signs of impairment. Brooks was transported to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center for treatment.
A trooper at the hospital found a small amount of marijuana in Brooks’s pocket. A field sobriety test showed signs of impairment and the trooper detected the odors of alcoholic beverages and burnt marijuana on Brooks.
Brooks was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, and then transferred back to the Bienville Parish.
