Funeral services for Mr. Albert Keith Barnes, age 85 of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA
Keith was born on August 17, 1940 in Alexandria, LA to Leonia Reed and Archie Lee Barnes and passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in Monroe, LA. He worked as an Electrician and retired from the glass plant in Simsboro, LA.
Keith was a Deacon Emeritus who served on numerous church committees and was a leader in the Royal Ambassadors of Christ at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a board member of Greater Ward One Water District, loved volunteering in the community, and assisting others in any way he could. Keith enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He was skilled in many trades and was very good with computer programming and computer work. He was a member of The Mudbugs RV Club and traveled all over the country with them.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Kenny Barnes and Kevin Barnes; and brothers, Donald Barnes and David Barnes. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Byrd Barnes; children, Keith Barnes, Jr. and wife Valerie, Ricky Barnes, and Jason Rockett; grandchildren: Michael Rockett, Lauren Rockett, Leah Barnes, Jamie Barnes, Randy Barnes, Cheree Goff, and Wesley Barnes; great-grandchildren, Nova Rockett, Conner Goff, Chloe Goff, and Breck Barnes; and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Barnes, Jr., Rickey Barnes, Bro. Shadd, Tom Scafani, and Bubba Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston, LA.
