Funeral services for Gary Forest Tyra, age 72, of Ruston, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be his grandson, William Young. Interment will follow in Riser Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Ruston.
A visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 PM until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston, LA.
Gary was born on November 3, 1953, in Hobbs, New Mexico and passed away February 7, 2026, in Ruston, LA. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Ester Edwards Andrews; father, Eldon Tyra; brother, Norman Tyra; maternal grandparents, Willie Edward and Ruby Edwards; and paternal grandparents are Forest Tyra and Zella Tyra.
He is survived by his girlfriend, of 42 years, Deana Thomas of Ruston; sisters, Debbie New of Columbia, MS and Wanda Tyler of Asheville, NC; daughter, Robbyn Tyra of Victoria, TX; stepdaughter, Sabrina Young and husband, Jason of Simsboro, LA; stepson, Chad Thomas of Shreveport, LA; granddaughter, Kareline Frechette and husband, Callum of Simsboro, LA; grandson, William Young of Simsboro, LA; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Frechette; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chad Thomas, Will Young, Jason Young, Jacob Horn, Steve Skipper, and Zach Skipper. Honorary pallbearers will be Callum Frechette and Dale Smith.
