The Louisiana Tech men’s and women’s track & field programs concluded the 2026 Conference USA Indoor Championships Saturday evening at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia.

A’reil Williams secured the first gold medal of the weekend for the ‘Dogs and the second podium finish with a mark of 1.77 meters in the women’s high jump, just 0.01 meters shy of tying her personal best and indoor program record of 1.78.

It was her second career gold medal and the first of her indoor career at Louisiana Tech, as well as her third career podium finish in the event.

Jamara Patterson and Osaretin Joy Usenbor put in another stellar performance in the women’s 400, with Patterson earning gold with a time of 52.66 and Usenbor with a third-place finish clocked at 54.06.

Sabastian Bradley-Reed followed up with his second consecutive championship secured in the men’s 400, winning gold with a time of 46.65. It is the first time CUSA has seen back-to-back champions in the event since 2016-2017, when WKU’s Emmanuel Dasor secured two-straight championships in the men’s 400.

Both the men’s and women’s 4×400 relay teams secured the bronze medal in both events. The women, comprised of Jenaia Williams, Patterson, Usenbor and Nia Wiley, ran a time of 3:39.29 to finish just under two seconds behind the event champion Kennesaw State.

The men’s relay team, comprised of Prentice Sanders, Rickey Williams III, Cullen Hronek and Bradley-Reed secured bronze with a time of 3:11.02 to also finish just under two seconds behind the champion Kennesaw State. The Bulldogs’ streak of two-straight championships in the men’s 4×400 ended, but extended out to three-straight podium finishes at the CUSA Indoor Championships.

The men and the women’s teams both finished in sixth place in the team standings, with the men securing 44 points and the women scoring 39.6 points.

Tech Tennis

Louisiana Tech extended its winning streak to five matches on Sunday, defeating conference foe Jacksonville State, 4-1, at the Jax State Tennis Courts.

After dropping the doubles point, LA Tech (8-2, 1-0 CUSA) responded in singles in a big way, claiming four courts to secure the win. Three of those points came from the top of the lineup.

“We just keep finding ways to win and that says everything about who we are. Doubles was not our sharpest start,” said head coach Amy Sargeant. “We came out a step slow, and Jax State made us pay for it. Heading into singles, we had one simple reminder: play LA Tech Tennis.

“We wanted to be aggressive, dictate points, and trust our identity. On four of six courts, that is exactly what we did. We set the tone, we completed with purpose, and we flipped the momentum.”

Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi picked up the first victory of the day, winning 6-4 on court two to put the Bulldogs one step closer to snagging the opening point.

Jax State (5-4, 0-1 CUSA), who entered the day having won two straight and held a 2-0 edge over LA Tech in the all-time series, would counter with victories on courts one and three to go up 1-0 in the team match.

Having won two matches already this season after getting behind going into singles, the Bulldogs did not panic. Zoie Epps got the momentum swinging in LA Tech’s direction, overpowering Polina Ramenskaja 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot.

June Vigneron followed with a dominant performance of her own, rebounding from a loss yesterday at UAB to defeat Irene Artigas 6-2, 6-2 at the No.5 position.

The remaining four courts would go three sets. Nina Skoric tacked on a gritty three-set win on court two, outlasting Aneka Patel 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Then clinching the match for the ‘Dogs was Diana Starodubtseva who added a three-set triumph on court three, besting Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
