Tech’s Gallaway earns CUSA weekly award

Louisiana Tech softball’s Bradi Gallaway earned her first Conference USA weekly honor as the freshman was named CUSA Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Gallaway was impressive at the plate all week, batting .412 (7-for-17) with a team-high eight RBI and three runs scored. She recorded three extra-base hits, including two home runs and a double, across four games and did not strikeout.

The Whitesboro, Texas, native posted two multi-hit games in the series against Middle Tennessee, finishing with three hits and three RBI on Friday and two hits and four RBI on Saturday, including a grand slam. Gallaway recorded at least one hit in all four games and drove in a run in three of the four games.

Defensively, Gallaway totaled seven assists and eight putouts at shortstop.

Gallaway has started all 39 games at shortstop this season and is batting .331 with 39 hits, nine home runs, seven doubles, 36 RBI and 26 runs scored. She leads the team in runs scored and has a team-best .619 slugging percentage.
