Ruston native Tambri Leedy was recently awarded a scholarship from the North Louisiana Medical Center Auxiliary.
Leedy, a 2022 graduate of Ruston High School and current Louisiana Tech nursing student, received a check for $1,500 from the hospital’s auxiliary to aid her in her nursing degree.
She was chosen by a panel of Louisiana Tech nursing faculty for her exemplary work in the classroom.
“The purpose of the Northern Louisiana Hospital Auxiliary is to help improve the healthcare in our community,” said NLMC Auxiliary treasurer Susan Elkins. “One way the Auxiliary accomplishes this is to annually provide a scholarship to a worthy Louisiana Tech nursing student. Our hope is that our scholarship recipient will stay in the Ruston community and work in our local hospital.”
Leedy said she chose a career in nursing because of her desire to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to people in some of their most challenging moments. She said the opportunity to serve others through nursing is very meaningful to her, and this scholarship brought her significantly closer to achieving that goal.
