Lincoln deputies arrest woman with stolen car

A woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after deputies determined a vehicle in her possession had been reported stolen, according to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department.

Angilee Diamond Merrell, 32, of Columbia, was arrested at about 1:44 a.m. on May 12 at a residence on La. Highway 147. According to an affidavit, deputies were dispatched to the location after Merrell reportedly said she had run out of gas and needed assistance.

The affidavit said Merrell initially told deputies she did not know who owned the vehicle she was driving and later said she did not know where she had obtained it.

It was discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen in Claiborne Parish. Merrell was advised of her Miranda rights and arrested.

Merrell later told deputies she had received the vehicle from a person at a church in Claiborne Parish.

She was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked for possession of a stolen vehicle valued at $5,000 or more.
