LA Tech student-athletes post record-breaking year

Louisiana Tech student-athletes continued to raise the standard in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year, highlighted by a department 3.42 GPA for the spring quarter, the highest term GPA ever recorded.

For the full academic year, LA Tech Athletics posted an overall department GPA of 3.37 while producing 699 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll selections and 33 graduates.

Academic success was widespread across the department as 13 of the university’s 14 athletic programs recorded a team GPA of 3.00 or higher during the term. Bowling led all programs with a 3.80 GPA, the second-highest mark in school history for the program. Golf (3.69) and Women’s Basketball (3.65) each established new program records.

Five other programs – Women’s Cross Country, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball – also reached a term GPA of at least a 3.5 for the spring.

A total of 230 Bulldogs and Lady Techsters earned placement on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll by achieving a term GPA of 3.00 or better. Among those honorees, 193 student-athletes received additional academic distinction, including 134 Dean’s List selections (3.50-3.85 GPA) and 59 President’s List honorees with GPAs of 3.85 or higher.

Twenty-three LA Tech student-athletes also completed their degrees this spring: Frances Davila (Bowling), Jenna Stretch (Bowling), Jianna Morris (Women’s Basketball), Will Jeffress (Men’s Basketball), Alejandro Sanchez (Golf), Reagan Marchant (Softball), Alannah Rogers (Softball), Jina Baffuto (Softball), Betchina (Women’s Track and Field), Annie Jones (Women’s Track and Field), Tia Reder (Women’s Track and Field), Jiana Stewartburgess (Women’s Track and Field), Lexa Thompson (Women’s Track and Field), Kaitlyn Washington (Women’s Track and Field), William Estes (Men’s Track and Field), Julian Oghomi (Men’s Track and Field), Carla Esquer (Volleyball), Grace Luevanos (Volleyball), Jailen Hurley (Volleyball), Giulia Bonifacio (Volleyball), Cadence Rutledge (Soccer), Jadon Smith (Football), and Sifa Leota (Football).
