Man arrested after theft complaint

A Grambling man was arrested June 13 after deputies responded to a reported theft at a Stable Road address.

According to an arrest affidavit, Kamarion Clarkson, 23, was stopped while driving a dark blue pickup truck that matched the description of a vehicle involved in the reported theft. A passenger was also in the vehicle.

The affidavit states deputies were dispatched after receiving a report that tools and household items had been taken from a residence. The homeowner later told deputies he observed the driver of the truck take several items from his carport, including tools, cell phones, a floor jack and an air compressor, and said he had video footage of the incident.

According to the affidavit, deputies searched the truck and reported finding a set of new wrenches behind the driver’s seat. The affidavit states deputies also detected a strong smell of marijuana and found marijuana in a driver’s-side door pocket inside a cigar pack.

The affidavit states Clarkson told deputies he took two wrenches and said the marijuana belonged to him. The passenger had the property owner’s permission to retrieve her furniture but not his tools.

Clarkson was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft, possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a controlled substance in the presence of a person under 17 years old.
