Ruston Alderman Bruce Siegmund announced today that he is seeking reelection this fall for Ward 5 in Ruston. Ward 5 mostly comprises the area south of I-20, west of Tech Drive, north of Hwy 80 (California) and east of South Barnett Springs. Official qualifying is in early August.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Ruston and the people of Ward 5. When I was first elected 12 years ago, I promised to do three things: To make Ruston more business friendly; to improve the city’s working relationship with Louisiana Tech; and to bring more unity to Ruston among its residents.”
“Under the leadership of Mayor Ronny Walker, we’ve accomplished these three goals and even more,” said Siegmund. “The economic growth of Ruston is now the envy of the state. The partnership between Tech and Ruston has resulted in both the city and the University experiencing phenomenal growth. In a time of national political deep divisions, Ruston continues to move towards a unified Board of Aldermen making Ruston a better place to live, work, and raise a family. I want to continue to build on the success and make this a great city for our children and our grandchildren.”
“Looking back over my 12 years of service, there are many things we have accomplished under Mayor Walker’s leadership that are particularly satisfying. Some of the highlights include:
The Tech/Ruston connection
The tornado recovery in our ward
Street overlay with new water and sewer lines
The Chase Document Center
Miles and miles of new sidewalks and biking trails
Recycling
Willis Knighton Health Care Center
Radiance Technology facility
New service roads on Ruston’s east and west sides
Tarbutton exchange completed on I-20
Ruston Sports Complex (indoor and outdoor)
Many new restaurants and businesses that have chosen to open
New apartment complexes and subdivisions that have been developed
Renaming of Huckleberry Trails Park to Marie Riggs Park
And more!
“I would love to continue to serve with Mayor Walker for the next four years to finish what we have started and to build an even better future for Ruston.”
Siegmund moved to Ruston to attend Louisiana Tech and has lived in Ruston by choice for nearly all of his adult life. This is his 12th year serving on the Board of Aldermen. He spent 19 years teaching Marketing at Grambling State University, over 20 years working in the local real estate market, and has enjoyed the last four years as faculty in Business and Marketing at Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business, his alma mater.
Siegmund and his wife, Pamela, are the parents of eight children raised in Ruston. They are also the grandparents of eight. For questions or more information, go to Facebook page; Bruce Siegmund, Ruston City Council, Ward 5, or contact Bruce at 318-614-4352 or BruceSiegmund@gmail.com.
