Remembering William Ray Harris

William Ray Harris, a lifelong resident of Lincoln Parish, passed away at the age of 91 on June 26, 2026. Born on October 11, 1934, in Simsboro, LA, Ray lived a life full of dedication to his family, community, and country.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Maureen Ann Varley Harris, and his son, Jason Christopher Harris. He leaves behind cherished memories with his grandchildren, Ryan Harris, Austin Harris, Alexis Harris, and Samantha Wilson, as well as his great-grandchildren, Marley Harris, Joshua Harris, Ellie Harris, and Brailyn Wilson. He was predeceased by his father, Ira William Harris, mother, Thelma Loreen King Harris, and son, James Craig Harris.

Ray proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in England for four years. It was there that he met his wife, Maureen. After his military service, Ray dedicated 43 years to Lewis and Co. as a menswear manager and buyer.

His commitment to his faith was evident through his longtime membership at the Grace Community Church, where he served in various leadership roles, including chairman of the church board and several committees. Ray was also an active member of the Ruston Masonic Lodge #106 F&AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Grace Community Church in Simsboro, LA, with Dr. Brian Yeich officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Simsboro, LA, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
