A Ruston man was arrested last week for domestic abuse battery with child endangerment after officers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on Beacon Light Road.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Ruston Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 3:30 p.m. June 29 to the 3000 block of Beacon Light Road after a caller reported she was being assaulted.
Investigators said officers observed multiple scratches and bruises on the woman when they arrived. The victim told police Sheldon Pylant, 22, had battered her while their young children were present.
Police reported Pylant also had scratches and bruises that were consistent with the victim’s account. He said nothing physical had happened. He was arrested on one count of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.
The affidavit states that while being transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, Pylant allegedly made statements including, “I didn’t mean to hurt her.”
