Ruston man arrested after traffic stop

A man was arrested last week after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected drugs.

Johnderrius Devon Morgan, 33, of Ruston, was arrested July 8 by a patrol supervisor with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to an arrest report.

The report noted the deputy saw a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 80 with an equipment violation and stopped it at South Barnett Springs Street and Courtney Avenue.

Morgan, who was driving, identified himself and was advised of the reason for the stop. The report states that while speaking with Morgan, the deputy saw suspected marijuana stems and residue throughout the vehicle.

A records check showed Morgan was wanted by the Sheriff’s Office on warrants as well as an active bench warrant for failure to appear in Ruston City Court.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. The report states the center console contained suspected marijuana, suspected synthetic marijuana, suspected MDMA (ecstasy), multiple bags of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, several empty prescription pill bottles and cellphone wrappers.

Morgan was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana, possession with intent to distribute MDMA, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support, and the Ruston City Court bench warrant.
