The Town of Dubach is looking for a new town clerk as the municipality continues work on infrastructure and other community improvements.

Mayor Mona Wilson said experience with QuickBooks Online is a requirement for the full-time, weekday position.

The successful applicant must also be willing to attend classes on Louisiana law to improve his or her understanding of laws affecting municipal government.

The search comes as Dubach continues a series of changes ranging from online services to infrastructure and recreational improvements.

“During my term(s) as mayor, we have been able to accomplish many things to move Dubach forward in this century,” Wilson said.

Residents can now pay water bills and traffic tickets online. The town has also upgraded its playground, added a boat ramp in the James Lake area, assisted with renovations to the ballpark and amphitheater, and replaced water meters that were more than 50 years old with radio-read meters.

Dubach has also worked with the Dubach Legends organization on community projects.

Wilson said running a town has required learning a wide range of laws and procedures.

“It has been a learning curve for me,” the mayor said.

Wilson, who brought business experience to the office, said municipal government has some similarities to running a business but operates on a different scale.

She also emphasized the role of the Board of Aldermen in town decisions.

“The public doesn’t realize the mayor presents items to the council, but ultimately all decisions are made by the council,” Wilson said.
