RUSTON, LA — The Lincoln Parish School Board is officially seeking qualified applicants to fill the remaining term for the District 10 school board seat, following the recent loss of longtime board member and educator, Mr. Otha Anders.
In accordance with Louisiana Revised Statutes R.S. 17:52(D) & (E), R.S. 17:60.4, and Act 204, the School Board will appoint an interim member to fill this vacancy.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements:
To be considered for the interim position, applicants must meet all standard legal criteria for school board governance in the State of Louisiana, including but not limited to:
● Must be a qualified elector (registered voter).
● Must reside within the geographic boundaries of Lincoln Parish School Board District 10.
● Must meet the general qualifications of office as outlined by Louisiana law and Lincoln Parish School Board Policy.
Submission Process:
Interested individuals must submit a letter of interest along with two proofs of residency.
● Submission Deadline: 12:00pm on Monday, July 20, 2026.
● Delivery Method: Submissions must be hand-delivered to the Central Office at 410 S. Farmerville Street, Ruston, LA 71270 (Attn: Mary Smith).
Special Called Meeting & Interview Process:
All qualified candidates who submit their interest letter and residency information by the deadline will be required to be present for a Special Called Meeting of the Lincoln Parish School Board.

During this Special Called Meeting, candidates will have the opportunity to address the Board and answer questions regarding their intent to serve the students, faculty, and constituents of District 10 and the Lincoln Parish School Board as a whole. The Board intends to vote on and seat the interim member during this session to ensure uninterrupted representation for District 10 within the state-mandated 20-day vacancy window.
