Traffic stop leads to drug, firearm arrest on I-20

A traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Lincoln Parish last week resulted in the arrest of a driver after authorities reported finding suspected marijuana and firearms during a vehicle search.

Deiondre C. Hall, 24, of Jonesboro, was arrested by state police at about 9:46 p.m. July 11.

According to an arrest affidavit, a state trooper saw a red Nissan Sentra traveling east on I-20 near milepost 74 move into the right lane without first signaling. The vehicle later activated its left turn signal and changed lanes without signaling at least 100 feet before the movement before exiting at the milepost 77 exit ramp.

The affidavit states the trooper made contact with Hall, the vehicle’s sole occupant, and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When asked, Hall said there were two firearms in the center console and marijuana in the trunk. A records check showed Hall’s driver’s license was under suspension

A search of the vehicle located a Glock 9mm pistol and a Glock .40-caliber pistol. Suspected marijuana and two short-barreled rifles were found in the trunk. According to the report, one bag contained approximately 80 grams of suspected marijuana and another contained approximately 54 grams. Material used for packaging drugs for distribution were found.

Hall was booked for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of firearms in the presence of a controlled substance.
