Lincoln Parish investigators aid in child sexual abuse material case

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office partnered in an investigation with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) that resulted in the arrest of a Union Parish man.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced the July 15 arrest of Gabriel Burton, 24, of Spearsville, for possession of child sexual abuse material.

Burton was identified as a suspect from a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

NCMEC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. NCMEC works with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation.

Burton was allegedly found to be using an online media storage application to store child sexual abuse material and images and videos of the sexual abuse of animals. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation with the LBI and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Burton was arrested and booked at the Union Parish Detention Center for two counts of possession of child sexual abuse material under the age of thirteen and nine counts of sexual abuse of animals.

Bail was set at $480,000.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to LBI.
