Grambling’s mayoral race has taken a surprising return as former mayor Edward Jones has jumped into the competition.

Jones announced his candidacy on a Facebook post.

“Citizens of Grambling, I’m honored to announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Grambling. After serving 8 years as Grambling City Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tempore and 12 years as Mayor of the city, I’m ready to continue the work. I ask for your prayers and support as we continue building a stronger future for our city.”

Former City Council member Alvin Bradley hauled in a majority 50.86% of the vote (383 ballots cast) in 2022, outdistancing the incumbent — Jones — who totaled 32.80% of votes (247).
